Something has happened
Turns out, I’m a telepath, an ólenekuranílu.
Don’t worry, I’m safe. Not every Starfleet ship has a telepath on board, but the Chimera actually has a few—including Captain Skyie, who was present when it happened.
She caught me, shielded me. Taught me how to shield myself, although I’m still struggling with that. I need psi blockers to sleep, but the ones we have make me feel ill—not terrible; I can still do my job, but...aching, fatigue, which in turn lead to irritability.
And when I say that Calypso—Captain Skyie, that is—taught me to shield, I mean she insisted on doing so immediately. I know that’s not how it’s typically done at home, and I tried to talk her out of it, to let me rest first, but she insisted; it’s the custom for her people, and the only other one who might have been able to guard me while I slept...isn’t really someone I want in my head right now.
And I do trust her—her intent, if not the completeness of her knowledge.
It still hurt, some; both in the literal sense and ksentze.
It was...uncomfortable, frustrating, exhausting. And...perhaps this is a difference in brain function, or simply individual aptitude, or perhaps a combination of the two, but her methods were...very different from what I remember hearing back home. Much more literal. And not only does the shield start to slip easily, but I feel like my attention meds aren’t having as much effect as they used to.
Hence, the blockers. Which is, aside from just checking in with big news, why I’m writing. I’m hoping something made for Draakri will work better, and that we’ll be able to synthesize it here on board. Please send me whatever info you can that might help.
Fair winds and following seas,

I’m so happy you wrote! We hadn’t heard from you in so long!
I’m glad you’re okay, but this ólenekuranílu situation concerns me. I’m sorry, but I showed it to Trallek, and he was even more concerned. He’ll calm down, but he stormed out before I could stop him. I think he’s gone to see Khyreesha, in which case I’ll need to apologize again; no one’s happy when she gets worked up, no matter how far away they are, and she just got promoted to Elder two moons ago, so she has even more sway now.
I’ve gathered as much info as I can on the psi blockers we use and attached it, starting with the most common types. I hope it helps.
Please, take care of yourself.

Rala,
Your description of the events surrounding your emergence is deeply concerning. If your account is accurate, very little is separating Captain Skyie from being at the center of a significant diplomatic incident.
I spoke to a friend in the regional Council. She doesn’t have much sway on her own, but she has the ear of a few who do, and should be able to prevent things from getting too heated if anyone higher catches wind of this before I can tack into it.
Which brings me to my main point in writing this:
I’m coming to you.
Don’t bother trying to write back and talk me out of it; by the time this reaches you, I’ll most likely already be off-world. I got in touch with Starfleet last night and managed to get the Chimera’s itinerary for the foreseeable future, and while I promise to keep the details of why closely guarded, I’ll be working remotely with a few Council members on my way out to try to get diplomatic credentials.
Yes, this is that significant. “First Draakri in Starfleet Mentally Assaulted by Captain” is not a news headline anyone wants to see. I intend to keep that from happening, but I need to see you in person, as soon as possible, to do that, and I cannot necessarily afford to be polite in the process.
I’ll see you as soon as I can,
— Khyreesha
