Mission:
Interim 3: Subspace Drift
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: En Route to DS16
Everyone was back on board and the ship had finally left the shit-show that was Orgrann. Kally was finally, thoroughly relaxed, both thanks to Alex and Cally, and thanks to the impending furlough Cally mentioned. Time at home with her parents, real cooking and familiar scenery with her girlfriend seemed like heaven at the moment. Of course, that was the reward for prepping for a refit. A refit of the ship usually meant a lot of packing, but with half of Sickbay already packed away for the baryon sweep, there was, thankfully, less to worry about.
At least until she read her messages.
"Khuy," she said under her breath. She stood up from her office desk and walked quickly to the door to her office. She put her fingers to her mouth and let out a loud, shrill whistle. "All hands on deck!" she shouted.
Henry was first in, having been closest to the office at the time. He walked in and saw Kally's panicked look and sighed. "What now?" he said.
Erika was next, her desk being right there. She locked her console and walked around to stand next to Henry. “Doctor?” she asked.
"My Lady?" Tessa echoed as she followed the others into the office, "You summoned, we are come." She gave a slight bow to the doctor.
Kally hopped up to sit on her desk, crossing her legs. "As you know, we're getting a refit when we arrive at DS16. It was my hope this would be a quiet week and we could relax getting things ready. Unfortunately, I just got word our records are going to be audited."
"Why? What did we do to warrant that?" Henry said.
Kally shrugged. "It doesn't seem to be anything we specifically did. Evidently Starfleet Medical wants to make sure we've been crossing t's and dotting lower-case j's. Our ship's reputation precedes us," Kally snarked. "Normally I wouldn't worry but I know I haven't been the most diligent with paperwork about the little things, and while I know all of you have been good with things, we need to make sure everything is in order. Every walk-in, every sniffle, every exam, the paperwork needs to be immaculate, and we need to check everything."
Henry looked at the others. "Since...when?"
"Since I came on board," Kally sighed. "I'm not asking this of just you; I'll be asking all shifts will pitch in, and I'll be doing the bulk of it, I promise, but I'm going to ask for your help in making sure we're up to snuff."
Tessa wolf-whistled, “That’s a long time, My Lady, I remember getting a full screening when I got here, but that was a loooooong time ago. What can I help with? I may not be the best with the paperwork, but I’ll do everything I can do!”
“Appointment and walk-in records should be solid,” Erika observed. “If they someone came in while I was on-shift, I promise it’s recorded properly. I’m pretty sure Crewmen Vicks and Wedge do a good job too, but I’ll cross-reference their shifts with door sensors. What I can’t do is the actual medical part, testing, diagnosis, treatment, et cetera. But I’ll make sure there aren’t any case files that we just overlook.”
Henry resisted the urge to sigh. Kally's lack of attention to detail with her reports had been number one on his policy watching list for months now, and it was finally coming to bite them in the ass. "I'll confer with the other nurses and set up a schedule for us to begin checking on applied treatments and the equipment," he said.
Kally gave him a small smile at the lack of "I told you so" I'm his voice. "Thank you, Henry, " she said, before looking at the others. "I appreciate all of you. I'll have initial to-do lists within the hour. We have less than a week to get this done, but I'm confident we can pull it off." She gave them all a smile that had more assurance than she actually felt.
"Dismissed."
