Welcome to the USS Chimera!

Adjust. Adapt. Overcome

The year is 2396, peace echoes throughout the Federation leading to another era of exploration and discovery. The only threats are the usual ones, with the usual opponents, as well as the scourge of occasional pirate activity. The borders of the Federation in all of the Quadrants are being expanded in the name of curiosity.

USS Chimera, NCC 80118, reclaimed from the ruins of the former USS Aegir, repaired and put into mothballs as a new ship, has been recommissioned and placed under the command of Captain Calypso Skyie, a former Marine-turned-Starfleet officer. She used to be last in line for a refit; Last in line for crew; Last in line for 'interesting' duty assignments.

Against all odds, Chimera has succeeded beyond anyone's wildest beliefs, much less the Admirals who sent her and her crew out to exile and death. Just returning from a diplomatic expedition from hell without any diplomats, Chimera has new adventures in front of her.

And a reputation.

The crew of career misfits has coalesced as an honest to God team, despite their status as still BEING misfits. The brand new out-of-the-Academy officers have matured faster than would have been possible and there are even some personnel who haven't screwed their careers up beyond reclamation. Some even WANT to be here.

What's next for the crew of the USS Chimera and her stalwart (if rather lax) Captain? The Stars Are The Limit.

And without a doubt, Murphy has something to say about everything staying sane.

“Corridors are clear and unlocked between you and the main terminal,” T’Vel reported from her control room.

“We’re having trouble detecting the number of hostiles though,” Fulvia added.

The makeshift assault team had weapons at the ready and were proceeding down toward the main docking station where the cars to the space elevator were loaded and unloaded. Some number of bad actors were there, ready to defend those on the station.

“Options?” Alex asked.

"There are two entrances to the docking station, one on the North side, one on the South," Katie said. "Divide and conquer? One set distracts, the…

Fiona went straight from from her quarters. She went from sickbay to her quarters to change. Fiona was told to report to the XO in his ready room. She was told to report to him today. She got the notification last night, right before she met up with Azrael. She needed clarity. Her emotions were already tighten, after her encounter with Kally and Azrael. She took a deep breath, before tapping on his intercom. She took a breath trying to compose herself.

Luckily for Fiona she knew the XO, he was a former professor of hers at the academy. She…

Rala strode through the corridors of the station, making her way toward the docking port that led back to the Chimera. Her horns still itched.

Technically it was the skin around the base of the horns that itched, but she’d always thought of it as ‘my horns itch’, and she scratched idly as she walked.

Just as she approached a corner, she heard voices from ahead. She turned the corner just in time to see a pair of figures step into a side corridor at the next junction. She started to run to catch up to them, a question forming…

Katie burst through a door, running full speed through the antechamber. She dodged past two pillar displays and rushed straight at the guard at the door. She brought her stick in front of her, lowered her shoulder, and plowed right into him, driving her shoulder into his sternum, crushing his chest against the door and knocking the wind out of him. He stood weakly against the door, trying to breathe, then felt his eyes threaten to pop out as a wooden mop handle made contact with his throat. He dropped to the floor gasping and rolling away as Katie threw…

Azrael knew several things. 1) Fiona told him in no uncertain terms that if she were to get her birth control shot, HE had to go to sickbay with her: 2) She didn’t want him holding her hand as they walked; and 3) This was going to be very interesting as soon as they hit sickbay. He was quickly reminded of the ancient Chinese curse he’d heard of: ‘May you live in interesting times’, and this seemed like a prime candidate to test out that particular theory. He hadn’t had the proper opportunity the previous night to explain much about…

[ Personal message from Lt Rala, COO Chimera; to Rikkona$@(#&{data corrupt}, Draakrona; sent 5 days before arriving at Orgrann ]

Tinat, mitandu

Something has happened

Turns out, I’m a telepath, an ólenekuranílu.

Don’t worry, I’m safe. Not every Starfleet ship has a telepath on board, but the Chimera actually has a few—including Captain Skyie, who was present when it happened.

She caught me, shielded me. Taught me how to shield myself, although I’m still struggling with that. I need psi blockers to sleep, but the ones we have make me feel ill—not terrible; I can still do my job, but...aching,…

I almost died today.

I wish that was an exaggeration, but it’s not.

Well...I suppose the circumstances that led to this outcome were astronomically unlikely to happen anywhere but in the vicinity of a well-equipped and -staffed Starfleet medical facility; ours may not be quite as well-equipped as we’d like, but it is very well-staffed...but the point stands.

I suppose I should clarify: I wasn’t the only one who almost died, but I’ll get to that.

Of all things, it was the Makers-damned holodeck.

These things…

"Raven's Log, Stardate five nine two point six.

Sheesh! So much has happened since I got my new pipes! Not to mention I've been with the Chimera for...dang, four years now! Where's time gone!? I feel I've finally earned my place here on the Chimera, and will fight for her and my crewmates to the death. I wonder what my old Pit Crew's doing? I'll have to look them up here soon and let them know how I've grown." A smile crossed Raven's face as she thought of the Sliver Swans.

"Well, I guess that's it on this log...yawn best…

Personal Log — Senior Chief Jadizon Sigarda Enor
Stardate: [Redacted]

“Computer, begin recording.”

Jadizon didn’t usually keep personal logs. He walked the decks, handled problems, talked to his chiefs. That had always been enough.

Lately, it wasn’t.

“I died.”

He let the words sit for a second, then stood and started pacing slowly across his quarters, bare feet quiet against the deck plating.

“That is not dramatic language. My heart stopped. My body shut down. I crossed whatever line separates breath from silence.”

He paused near the viewport, staring out at the stars.

“And on the other side, something was…

"Captain's Log, Stardate...Oh hell, I hate these Stardate logs in any case."

"It really is a pity that we had to leave Tial in as much of a rush as we did. The hospitality on the surface was rather good, even among the teams I sent out to other areas on the planet. Their 'Council of Lights' was one governmental meeting that I could have done without, but the presence of the Baroness of Light's End and her former consort, the Light of the Eastern Watch helped with the introductions.

"Tial is not a technologically advanced world on it's own,…
