Boudreau was glad to have finally given Koz the slip. It wasn't entirely fair on her of course, she was much less relaxed about things than he was, even if he was dedicated to his work. Heck, few people would have volunteered to head to the Chimera to take up a post. No, he was here for the Chief Scientist and her experience with subspace events. Bourdeau would be damned if he didn't get something out of this assignment.
The Chimera was at the furthest reaches of the Federation, and the journey over hadn't been an easy one for either Koz or himself. They were just two different people and had wound each other up the wrong way. Boudreau made a mental note to apologise to the Operations Officer when he had a moment.
He hit the chime on the Ready Room door. The scientist had heard nothing about the Chimera's Commanding Officer. Everyone had been fairly tight-lipped once he'd made the choice to transfer. He wondered if that was a good thing or not, and felt he was about to find out.
“Come in!” The soprano voice called out, the door sliding open to welcome him in.
As Remy walked in, Calypso turned around at the waist from the corner where she had a full-length mirror. She was holding up a slinky purple dress to herself, which was dressed in nearly nothing at all, a set of thong panties that only the string was visible from his vantage point behind her, the dress the only thing covering her front at all.
Boudreau cocked his head, a quizzical expression crossing his face. 'Uh, is this a bad time?' he asked motioning towards the purple dress. He resolutely refused to look anywhere lower than her neck, even though he was sorely tempted. Clocking her eyes were an icy blue - but I thought she was Betazoid? he thought to himself, he waited for an answer. This must be some sort of test he then decided.
“Never a bad time!” She said cheerfully, “Come in, make yourself at home, get comfortable,” She gestured towards the couch with one hand before she turned back to the mirror, “I’m just checking to see if this isn’t too much for a casual evening somewhere.” She turned around to face him, “What do you think?”
He arched an eyebrow, but took the seat indicated. Boudreau leaned back and shrugged. 'I'm fairly sure you could pull off most dresses in most circumstances, but if it's casual, you may want to tone it down. No sense in sticking out because you're ... ah, overdressed,' he drawled. He wondered briefly if she even knew who he was. 'Wear something comfortable but understatedly elegant.' Bourdreau shrugged with his hands this time, 'if you want my opinion that is.'
“I actually don’t know what the scenario is going to be.” Cally admitted, then pulled the dress away and looked at it before tossing it onto one of the chairs and taking a perch on the corner of her desk, “I’ll have to see what the ship itinerary is going to be I suppose.” She shrugged as she leaned her slightly, “Well, I don’t recognize you, new to the ship?”
Catching an eyeful, Boudreau's gaze went straight to the plush carpet of the Ready Room and he marvelled at how plush it really was. Carpetry was such a fine art, he felt. I'll certainly be able to recognise her in any circumstance. 'Uh, yeah, I'm new. Your new Assistant Chief Science Officer, Remy Boudreau.' He raised his eyes to her, firmly keeping them at their level and smiled, 'I'd shake your hand, but you're all the way over there, Captain.'
His accent was interesting, that was for sure, but her grin went wide as she sauntered over and reached out her hand to his as she settled in his lap, one leg on either side of his as her knees sank into the cushions, barely, “Captain Calypso Skyie, a pleasure to meet you, Remy.” She said from maybe twelve inches away from his face.
'Well now, aren't you about as friendly and clothed as a Risian,' Boudreau chuckled, knowing he was blushing ever so slightly but powering through. It clicked. Betazoids often don't wear clothes, this means nothing. 'I have to say this is about the friendliest coming aboard I've had in Starfleet, and I served on Station Echo Twelve and they don't see a change of personnel for twenty-four months at a time.' He took her hand and shook it firmly. 'Howdy as they say back where I'm from.'
“You’re wrong.” Calypso answered his assumption that she’d caught without even thinking about it, “And I’m not referring to Echo Twelve.” She released his hand and wrapped her arms around his neck, “We’re a friendly group here, of course, Risa has nothing on us, but we don’t need those damned statues… But, welcome aboard! So you’re going to be Becca’s assistant, huh? You are aware of her hmm… Height deficiency?”
'Deficiency seems ... harsh, yes, but I am aware her vertical axes have been compressed about as firmly as a car in a crusher, if you catch my drift,' Boudreau replied wondering how hot somebody's hands could feel at the back of his neck. 'It's uh, why I'm here actually, why I volunteered. I have a line in subspace anomalies and well, she seemed to be about the most anomalous thing aboard the Chimera. Now I'm not so sure. Not that this isn't ... very pleasant,' he knew he was babbling and knew he had compounded the problem by glancing down then back up very quickly. 'But this is unusual ...'
“And I can tell it’s getting to be a very… Hard situation for you to deal with at the moment.” Cally grinned at him, she slid closer to him on his lap. The look had been quick, yes, but the way his eyes has drank her in and the flush of embarrassment she’d felt from him had been somewhat delicious, “So far we haven’t come across many subspace anomalies, but who knows where we’ll go from this point, or where, or what we’re going to do about things.”
'Well, that's unfortunate,' Boudreau managed after a moment 'but I can assure you I'm able to deal with more than just subspace anomalies - I'm a generalist with many skills to apply to a situation.' He paused, then cursed himself for not being able to help himself, 'no matter how hard the situation.'
“If you’re up to it, I can help you with your current predicament in any number of ways.” Cally said sincerely, “Test some of your various talents. That’s what they say about scientists, that experiential data is important?” She smiled at him, “But I’m not a scientist, I’m just a former Marine with delusions of grandeur, so they say, still, it never hurts to try new things, don’t you think?”
'Trying new things is the essence of science,' Boudreau replied with the flash of a smile. 'It's why we're sat here the way we are. I think I should write to Command and recommend this way of meeting your Commanding Officer. It's almost hands on, you might say.' He pulled into an upright seating position, close to her face, and smiled again as he gently slid his hands to the back of her thighs, then tensed, pulling himself upright while she still had her arms around him. The heat and scent of her so close to him were heady.
He pirouetted in place and gently lowered her on to the sofa, a pang of regret pulsing through him at being so noble. 'This has been real nice, but as they say back in the bayou, don't go lookin' or you might just find Squatch.' Boudreau grinned, and ruffled his hair. 'I should go report in to my department Ma'am.'
Surprise ran through Cally as he manhandled her with ease and then backed away a step. That last was the biggest surprise, but she wasn’t about to tackle him to have her way with him. She’d leave that to someone else. It wasn’t befitting one of her rank, instead she lounged where he’d set her as if it were the plan all along, “I suppose, if you must, you must. One thing I will say about her is that she doesn’t go anywhere very quickly without assistance, so if you took another ten minutes, she’ll still be where she is now, or close enough.” She shrugged, “It will be a pleasure getting to know you better, Mister Boudreaux, just… Make sure to check in with Medical at some point, routine stuff you know.”
'Medical is next on my list, Ma'am,' his grin expanding. As he headed back towards the door, he looked back over his shoulder. 'Those neon-blue things suit you, by the way. Wear more like that and getting to know you will be interesting.' He took a mental picture of her lounging on the sofa and gave her a wink. 'Thanks for the warm welcome, Captain.'
She shook her head slightly, but smiled nonetheless, "Just remember, Remy, I'll be around if you change your mind. And you can bet, neon-blue? I'll keep that in mind."
